Miracle Works runs a primary school in Senya Beraku fishing town with classes from preschool through sixth grade. The school is made up of seven classrooms, and an office building; classes run from 7:30am to 3:00pm. Volunteers will teach basic subjects such as English, Maths, Science, Creative Arts etc. After classes, they will have the opportunity to be involved in sports and crafts. There are currently 100 children attending our primary school ranging from 2-16 years old.
A feeding program has been established in order to provide lunch everyday; kids cannot learn on their empty stomach. Our goal is to aid, encourage and inspire less privileged children to stay in school and continue their education in order to lift themselves out of poverty.
Teaching project supplies
Picture books, instruments or other teaching materials related to your subject. Pens, pencils, note markers, colour pens, novels, games, stickers, crayons, exercise books, story books, chalk, abacus for counting, white board and marker pens, skipping ropes, used laptops or desktop computers etc.
Skills/Qualifications
There is no special qualifications for the education program in Ghana but people with kind heart, compassion and love for the children are required for this program. Volunteers should be flexible, patient and bring positive energy and enthusiasm to make a difference. Those who have prior teaching experience may be able to take on a more independent role to teach and lead classes with limited resources. You should keep a flexible attitude towards working in a new and multi-cultural environment.
